Our valve cover & cylinder protectors combine high protective effect and low weight. This makes them ideal for customers who expect high protective effect but find the classic crash bar too dominant
The cylinders of a Boxer BMW are exposed. Stone chips, a fall in the terrain, or grazing a plastered wall when manoeuvring in a tight space can easily scratch the valve covers. In the 1250 ShiftCam engines, the construction of the ShiftCam mechanism is particularly complex. Since the valve covers are mounted exclusively by friction, there is a risk that the valve cover will shift relative to the cylinder head under any impact and potentially affect the complex valve train. Therefore, additional protection of the valve covers is particularly important. We have developed a set of well-thought-out protectors for this purpose. These are characterised by their precise fit to the valve cover with a narrow gap, requiring precise manufacturing.
The protector is made of impact-resistant, durable plastic. On the inside facing the valve cover, we have constructively integrated segments with a high-temperature-resistant elastic material. These segments are dimensioned to absorb shocks considering their Shore hardness*). Their equally supportive and protective effect ensures that external forces and moments are evenly absorbed and distributed over the segments, avoiding peak loads. The high-quality design and function of the protectors are rounded off by an embedded stainless steel insert. Even though it has a decorative character, it acts as an additional protective element to reduce the risk of grinding through the valve cover and the associated oil loss. This way, the protectors help reduce the risk of secondary damage, ideally avoiding it.
In many cases, they enable unimpeded continuation after a mishap. The installation is easy with the included mounting kit. Our valve protectors are Made in Europe. Therefore, we gladly provide a 5-year warranty.
